Come 2 Rwanda – All About Rwanda
This 1 Day Gorilla Trekking Tour in Rwanda is designed for visitors who are already in Rwanda and want to quickly go and observe one of the gorilla families in the Volcanoes National Park. The Volcanoes National Park is found in Musanze district in the north-western part of Rwanda. The park is characterized by open grasslands, bamboo forests and swamps, and is bordered by the Virunga National Park in Congo and Mgahinga National Park in Uganda.
The Volcanoes National Park is home to over 200 species of birds, hyenas, forest elephants, buffaloes and antelopes. The key wildlife attractions are the mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. Mountain gorillas are arguably the most fascinating creatures on earth — they resemble and behave like humans, living in peaceful and organized families led by a dominant silverback male.
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is worth every penny. You would be one of the lucky few to see the primates in the wild. Moreover, you get to contribute towards the conservation of these amazing primates. Contact Come2Rwanda on +250783245922 or [email protected] to book your permit today.
A Come2Rwanda guide will pick you from your hotel at 4:30am to set off for Kinigi where the Volcanoes National Park offices are located. The drive is approximately 2–3 hours through a beautiful mountainous countryside — the reason Rwanda is referred to as “The Land of a Thousand Hills”.
You will arrive at the Kinigi offices by 7:00am in time for briefing from a head guide on the rules and procedures to be followed while watching mountain gorillas. Once briefing is complete, you will be assigned to a particular gorilla family and proceed to track them. Watching mountain gorillas is breathtaking. Mountain gorillas are very playful and curious and will often come close to you. You will only have one hour with the apes.
After gorilla trekking, you will descend the forest and head back to Kigali, reaching late in the evening.
