This 2 Days Gorilla Trekking and Mount Bisoke Hiking package is designed for those interested in tracking mountain gorillas at the Volcanoes National Park and hiking up Mount Bisoke. The Volcanoes National Park covers an area of 160 square kilometers and is home to mountain gorillas, hyenas, buffaloes, warthogs, forest elephants and over 350 species of birds.
Mount Bisoke stands at 3,711 meters high with some parts located in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its two remarkable crater lakes lie on the Rwanda side. The mountain is characterized by lush green vegetation of bamboo and Hagenia forest. Hiking Mount Bisoke takes you to the top of the volcano for a great view of its magnificent crater lake.

Day 1: Arrival from Kigali and Transfer to Kinigi – Mount Bisoke Hike
Our Come2Rwanda guide will pick you up from your hotel by 4:00am and brief you about the tour before starting the journey to the Volcanoes National Park (approximately 3 hours). You will arrive at the Kinigi offices by 7:30am in time for briefing. Hiking Mount Bisoke takes 4–6 hours, starting at 8:00am. We recommend hiring a porter to help with extra luggage. After viewing the great crater lake and surrounding scenery, you will descend back to the starting point and return to your lodge for lunch and rest.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking at the Volcanoes National Park – Departure
Wake up early and take breakfast before going for the gorilla trekking briefing at 7:00am. The head guide will share information about gorilla trekking, what to expect and how to act around the gorilla group. You will be assigned a gorilla group based on your fitness. After spending one hour with the gorilla family, you will return to the lodge for lunch, then begin the journey back to Kigali.
Villa Gorilla (Budget): A budget hotel built close to park headquarters with self-contained rooms, private toilets and bathroom facilities. Excellent dining with both international and local cuisines, and amazing views of the mountains in the park.
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge (Luxury): One of the top luxury lodges near the Volcanoes National Park, owned by SACOLA (a community trust) and operated by Governor’s Camp. Offers stunning views of the Virunga volcanoes. Rooms are spacious bandas/cottages with fireplaces, hot showers and private balconies.
The Garden Place Hotel (Mid-Range): A mid-range hotel with standard and double rooms, each self-contained with king-sized beds. Executive and VIP rooms include a kitchen, fridge and separate living room. All rooms offer beautiful views of the Virunga volcanoes.
