This 2 Days Rwanda Gorilla Safari is designed for visitors interested in tracking mountain gorillas at the Volcanoes National Park. The park is located in the northern part of the country and is part of the wider Virunga conservation area that covers Congo’s Virunga National Park and Mgahinga National Park.
There are 10 habituated gorilla families in Rwanda. Apart from the mountain gorillas, visitors can also spot golden monkeys, forest elephants, buffaloes and hyenas in the park. The Volcanoes National Park has five of the eight volcanoes found within the Virunga ranges: Karisimbi, Sabinyo, Muhabura, Bisoke and Gahinga.

Day 1: Kigali City and Genocide Memorial Site Tour – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
A Come2Rwanda guide will pick you at your hotel or airport at 8am to begin your tour. You will visit the renowned Kigali Gisozi genocide war memorial site to learn more about the 1994 genocide. After the memorial, you will visit local markets in Kigali and other interesting places, before starting the 3-hour journey to the Volcanoes National Park.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking at the Volcanoes National Park – Departure
Wake up early and take breakfast before heading to the Kinigi park headquarters for briefing on gorilla trekking at 7:30am. You will be given an opportunity to hire a porter and choose from among the 10 habituated gorilla groups. Once you sight the gorilla group, take photos and follow instructions from your guide. After one hour with the gorillas, return to the lodge for lunch, then journey back to Kigali.
Davinci Gorilla Lodge (Mid-Range): Built in Kinigi, close to the park headquarters and Rwanda Development Board offices. Rooms are all self-contained with hot showers, bathrooms, room service and free Wi-Fi. Each room has a balcony with great views of the Virunga volcanoes. Amenities include a children’s playground, barbecue and restaurant.
