Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Ascent Begins — Mountain Camp

Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park (2.5 hours). Briefing at Kinigi HQ then begin the Karisimbi ascent through bamboo forest, hagenia-hypericum woodland, giant lobelia fields, and open moorland. Reach the mountain camp at approximately 3,700m. Dinner and overnight camping on the mountain.

Day 2: Summit and Descent

Wake before dawn for the final push to the summit at 4,507m (approximately 3–4 hours from camp). Magnificent sunrise views across Rwanda, DRC, and Uganda from the highest point in the Virungas. Descend to the park gate and transfer back to Kigali.
