Arrival at Kigali International Airport. Meet your safari guide and drive approximately 2.5–3 hours to Musanze (Ruhengeri), the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Scenic drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills, tea plantations, and banana farms.
Check-in at a lodge near the park (e.g., Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, Virunga Lodge, or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge). Welcome briefing: gorilla trekking rules, park regulations, and physical preparation tips. Dinner at the lodge.
Early breakfast (5:30–6:30 AM). Transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters. Registration and briefing by park rangers — gorilla families to be tracked, safety rules, and trekking group assignments (8 visitors per gorilla family).
Trek through bamboo forests and lush montane forest. Duration: 2–6 hours depending on gorilla location. One full hour observing gorillas — watch infants, playful interactions, and feeding behaviour. Photos allowed at respectful distance.
