3 Days Rwanda Congo Nile Trail Tour

This 3 Days Rwanda Congo Nile Trail Tour takes you along one of Africa’s most scenic hiking and biking tracks — a route that follows Lake Kivu’s stunning shoreline through rainforests, coffee farms, fishing villages, and traditional communities. The trail may be completed by foot, bicycle, or kayak.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Rubavu (Gisenyi) to Cyimbiri — 18km

Begin at 7:00 AM in Rubavu, heading south along the Congo Nile Trail past the towns of Nyamyumba and Busoro with breathtaking views of Lake Kivu. After 6–7 hours of hiking, arrive at Cyimbiri — home to a famous coffee washing station. Dinner and overnight at Cyimbiri Coffee Guesthouse.

Day 2: Cyimbiri to Kinunu — 14km

A 5–6 hour hike through terraced slopes where local farmers grow coffee, bananas, and cassava. Afternoon tour of the award-winning Kinunu coffee estate. Dinner and overnight at Kinunu Guesthouse.

Day 3: Kinunu to Musasa — 12km

The most dramatic section of the trail with breathtaking views of Lake Kivu and the distant DRC highlands. End in the fishing village of Musasa by 3:00 PM, with transport back to Rubavu or Kigali.
