This 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking and Big 5 Safari combines Rwanda’s two most visited national parks — Akagera National Park for the Big Five savannah safari and Volcanoes National Park for mountain gorilla trekking — plus a cultural visit to Iby’iwacu Village.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali to Akagera National Park — Game Drive

Pickup from your Kigali hotel and transfer to Akagera National Park (approximately 2–3 hours). Embark on a full-day game drive searching for the Big Five — lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo — as well as antelopes, giraffes, zebras, and abundant birdlife. Lunch and dinner at your lodge inside the park.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Morning game drive before leaving the park. Four-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park with a lunch stop en route. On arrival, visit Iby’iwacu Cultural Village — interact with locals, visit the former king’s palace, dress in traditional Rwandan attire, and join folk dances. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla Trek and Return to Kigali

Early breakfast then drive to park HQ for briefing. Trek into Volcanoes National Park’s rainforest in search of mountain gorillas (1–6 hours). Spend one hour with the gorilla family. Return to base, have lunch, then drive back to Kigali for drop-off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport.
