Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park — Gorilla Trekking

Depart Kigali at 4:00 AM for the drive to Volcanoes National Park. Arrive at park HQ for a 7:00 AM briefing, then trek into the forest to find the mountain gorillas — an activity taking 3–5 hours. Spend one precious hour with the gorilla family. Return to base for lunch, then visit Iby’iwacu Cultural Village to tour the former king’s palace, wear traditional attire, and enjoy folk dances. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest — Gisakura Tea Estate

Early breakfast then transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park with lunch en route. Visit the Gisakura tea estate for a guided tour of the vast estate, learning how tea is grown and processed. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trek and Return to Kigali

Breakfast and briefing before entering the forest in search of chimpanzees. Nyungwe’s chimps are active and playful, jumping from tree to tree. The trek takes 4–6 hours depending on their location. Packed lunch, then drive back to Kigali for drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
